HELLO WORLD!

Chris's Tilde Club Homepage

What is a Tilde Club?

from the main page:
tilde.club is not a social network it is one tiny totally standard unix computer that people respectfully use together in their shared quest to build awesome web pages"

About Me

I'm Chris. I have another homepage here. I've been online since about 1996, when I discovered the library computers had Internet. Yeah I guess that makes me a little old. One of the elder millenials I am!
My hobbies go in spurts, so it's likely I won't update this page until 2023 but then I will completely remake it.
Btw this page looks like this on purpose. :-)

Oh yeah, tilde.club! Got a new ipad which is going to be really useful for musicmaking. I'm also using it as a little thin client, running blink as a terminal emulator, then using mosh to connect to my home server, then jumping to tilde.club via ssh. Right now I'm at somebody else's house, entering this text on my ipad! What a time to be alive.

Just updated my other website: chrisbeckstrom.com. It's a little less retro than this one, and it also has lots of music I made on it. You can get most of it (all of it?) for free.

Still excited. Figured out how to mount my tilde.club home directory on my local computer. Here's the command I used: sshfs -oIdentityFile=/home/chris/.ssh/tilde_id_rsa [email protected]: /home/chris/tildeclub-mount I did this so I can build my tilde club website on my local machine. I know I can use emacs (my editor of choice) to edit remote files over ssh, but I've never gotten it to work quite right. So far this seems to be working well.

Yesterday I found this awesome thing: GifCities, a project by the Internet Archive that has collected tons and tons of gifs from MySpace archives. I think I'll collect some of those here. After all, this whole tilde thing is a celebration of the "small web" and the individuality of the early internet, right? At least that's how I see it. You can see the gifs I've collected here: click here for gifs

(hacker voice) I'M IN! I'm so excited to be a part of this. Looking forward to all sorts of geeky shenanigans.
