@everyone because of recent things, we've decided to make some changes to rule six. The new rule six reads as follows:

```6. Do not construct lag machines or large eyesores that are visible from the dynmap. Large eyesores include claims that do not make sense on the map. These include long, stretches of claims creating a wall blocking off an area and/or claims shaped to show a word or picture. Nobody likes bordergore, lets keep the map looking nice, please.```

To clarify, towns with borders that are already messy will not receive punishment, but we will work to hopefully fix those borders.

Happy Easter/Springtime!

I know not everyone has had the greatest time lately, with being stuck inside your houses and all of that, but in order to brighten up the mood, I set up a mini Easter Egg hunt. Scattered throughout certain towns are Easter Egg player heads. Try to see how many you can find! 

For the people in those towns, don’t worry, I didn’t place them in any secret dungeons, all of them are outside or in public buildings. I do hope that you keep them around for the day.

Hey @everyone. We’re going to have a scheduled maintenance at 2 PM EST on July 10th. Why? Because if it all goes well, Event Wars will begin every weekend starting with this weekend, July 11th and 12th! 

For those curious, Event War is a 2 day period every weekend, in which nations can fight each other to absorb their enemies into their nation. As long as enough players are online from each nation and ready to fight, enemies can invade towns and conquer these towns into their nation! Standing within townblocks cause the town to lose HP, and once the HP reaches 0, or if their mayor that town is annexed into the opposing nation. Likewise, killing the nation’s leader results in annexation of the whole nation. During and after battles, opponents or victors won’t have perms in your town, so you don’t have to worry about them griefing or stealing. 

If you don’t wish to participate in wars, that’s okay too. Your nation can pay a fee to remain neutral each day. Additionally, a full documentation channel explain wars in more detail with exact numbers will be ready on Friday.

Hey, @everyone! I know it's been awhile, but we finally have a new feature! Its...... DUNGEONS! **Right now**, 3 Dungeons are scattered across the map, each with an exclusive item and tons of rare loot! These dungeons will not be easy to find, and you might need to bring a team together to find them. The #dungeon-index will give players info on these new dungeons. And remember, our Town Hall is still scheduled at 3 PM! Enjoy!

Now that the driving home series has come to an end, I'd like to announce that I will be resigning from ownership of the server. It's been a good run, I've had lots of fun and good times with all of you here, however I think it's time for me to move on, mostly due to my personal lack on interest. I'm sorry for leaving the server in such a bad state, and I'm sorry I couldn't have done better. I'll be handing server ownership to Pip, what happens next is completely up to him. While I likely won't be playing on the server anymore, I'll still be hanging around on various discords. Thank you, and Goodbye @everyone!

Hey, @everyone. This isn’t going to be easy to type but the writing has been on the wall for awhile. I assume you guessed what I’m going to mention, but **GaiaMC is shutting its doors at Midnight on July 25th, 2020**. Today, Friday, and Saturday will be the last days to play on the server. This was not a decision made lightly, but the server doesn’t have a future, as jg no longer will host the server and given my current financial situation, I can’t afford to manage a server, and no one on staff wishes to sell the server. Rather than completely die out, the remaining server staff have all be hired by PlanetaryCraft, run by one of our oldest staff members, T3mp0st. PlanetaryCraft is packed with features such as traveling to space, dungeons with exclusive loot, and other amazing adventures and new features that players can have. Many of our players have already moved there and I recommend  that the rest of us do the same if you’re looking for an Earth/Towny server with rich and new experiences. 

A map download for both GaiaMC and GaiaClassic will be available on Sunday. Players will be able to download a map of the world we used. This is to allow players to make Schematics so that they might be able to recreate their builds on PlanetaryCraft, if they so choose. 

The Wiki will be locked after about a week or so, all pages will remain open as a time capsule of sorts, but no new pages can be added. 

Could GaiaMC ever return? In theory it’s possible, since the server’s files will be given to me. In practice, this is just one chapter of my life and yours that will be over. We had a good run, lots of wars, lore, and stories to tell. Lots of adventure and events happened.

Please note that our rules still apply during these final 2 days and any rule break will be permanent due to the circumstances.
